Nylon
Nylon is the most common of all carpet fibers, and its high durability makes it a popular choice for areas of the home that receive high foot traffic. Resistant to most dirt, mildew and moisture, this fiber is also known for its ease of maintenance and non-allergenic properties. |
PET Polyester
This is an excellent fiber choice for the budget conscious. Polyester shares many of nylon’s nonallergenic, moisture and wear resistant properties but lacks the same degree of durability. |
PTT Polyester
Fibers are extruded from a new generation of polymer giving it exceptional durability along with built-in stain resistance, color clarity, colorfastness, luxurious softness, and ease of maintenance. |
Olefin or Polypropylene
This fiber was first used in carpets designed for use outdoors and in spaces with high levels of moisture and humidity. Color-fastness, resilience, and resistance to water damage, mildew and piling are important benefits of this fiber. Polypropylene fiber is also recognized for a luxurious appearance and outstanding softness. |

Carpet Cushion |

Don’t forget about the cushion! Carpet cushion (pad) helps your carpet feel more luxurious and can extend the life and warranty of your carpet. Besides those benefits it also acts a great insulator as well as sound proofing in your home. There are three basic types of cushion foam, rubber, and fiber. Each variety has characteristics that make it useful in particular types of carpet installation. Each variety also has grades, which vary by weight (also called density), thickness, and the amount of force it takes to compress the cushion. Here are descriptions of the foam which are typically used, however we carry all types to accommodate your needs.
FOAM Cushion Types
Generally speaking, foam cushion comes in three recognized, clearly different varieties:
Prime polyurethane foam is a firmer version of the same cushioning used in upholstered furniture, mattresses, and automobile seats. Two liquid ingredients are combined to form a large mass of foam, which is then sliced into sheets for use as carpet cushion.
Bonded polyurethane foam (sometimes called rebond) is quite unique. You cannot mistake it when you see it, because it is formed by combining chopped and shredded pieces of foam, in different sizes and usually different colors, into one solid piece. It frequently has a surface net for ease of installation and improved performance.
Bonded foam is one of the most amazing recycling projects of all time. Nearly all the scrap foam in the U.S., and some from other countries as well, is utilized to make bonded cushion. This recycles waste, which would otherwise be thrown out, and it eases the strain on our landfills. Moreover, bonded foam is itself recyclable.
